HANSON, Heather Jean

July 14, 1945 – June 15, 2012

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our dear mother, Heather. She passed away at Chinook Hospice after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 66 years.

Heather lived each day of her life to the fullest. She always had a huge smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She never took anything for granted and was able to fulfill many of her hearts desires just by believing they were possible. Heather was admired for her independence and free-spirit and was able to travel extensively over the past few years, most notably a trip down the Oregon coast in her camper van with only the company of her little dog Molly. Her proudest accomplishment was cycling in The Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2010.

Heather will be dearly missed by her beloved daughters Karen Fosado and Sandy (Jeff) Forbes; her grandchildren, Sofia and Olivia Fosado, Evan and Emily Forbes, Brittany and Kayleigh Gagne, Alison Cooper, Rhys, Brydan and Alicia Chamberlain; as well as her step-children, Kim (John) Cooper, Kelleen (Stephen) Gagne, and Robert (Candis) Chamberlain; and her brothers and sister, Joe (Judy) Hanson, Tim (Ele) Hanson, Glen (Sandra) Hanson and Peggy (Daryl) Wittrock. Heather was predeceased by her husband, John Chamberlain and her mother and father, Jean and Paul Hanson.

A Celebration of Heather’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Heather Hanson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

  8. Albert Hulzebos :

Please accept my deepest sympathies with the loss of your mother and grandmother. I only knew her a short time but what time she did share with our team was inspirational. Knowing the loss that the family experienced just few short years ago and participating in the riverside tribute in 2009 I pray that all of you find the strength to overcome such great losses in such a short time.
    Sincerely yours

  12. Having been fortunate enough to visit John in his final days I was able to meet the Family, some I knew and some I had just Met. I was able to experience the Love and Devotion that everyone openly displayed prior to his passing. Although I didn’t know Heather as well as John I’m sure she was overwhelmed at the affection and support that was bestowed upon her in those final days. In a world where we have words as terrible as Cancer it was a pleasure to know her. She always greeted us with her soft charm, Laughter and that beautiful smile that always made everyone feel comfortable in her presence. John used to sing a song called “A Star fell from Heaven” and it really was a blessing that they found each other – for Heather really was His Star that came from Heaven.
