HANNA, Brian

February 3, 1935 – October 15, 2012

With great sadness we announce the passing of our loving husband and father. He will be remembered by his wife Maureen and daughters Cheryl and Brenda (Paul), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

It has been a long goodbye as Brian had been drifting away for many years with Alzheimer’s disease. Short on words, but never on laughter, Brian was a compassionate and loving husband and a kind and gentle father. His love and compassion also extended to animals, especially his “little” pal Penny. Always a country boy at heart Brian also had an amazing sense of humor and kept everyone smiling and on their toes as he enjoyed pulling the odd prank.

Born in Stettler, AB., Brian moved to Calgary in 1954 to attend SAIT where he received a diploma in Survey Drafting. He commenced employment in 1956 with Canadian Western Natural Gas (Atco Gas) and after 36 years of service he retired. Brian stayed close with many of the people he worked with.

Brian was also a very talented stained glass artist and we are so happy to have many of his pieces in our homes.

Golfing, fishing and bowling kept him busy after he retired. He also enjoyed making wine, sampling it and often gave bottles to friends.

Brian and Maureen had the good fortune of being able to travel to numerous places around the world. He always wanted to take a trip to Russia and we are grateful he was able to do so, as it was his last trip before the disease took over.

We take this opportunity to thank the staff at Carewest Signal Pointe especially the caregivers in House 3. Just knowing he was in that facility with such great people gave us peace of mind and made dealing with the disease so much easier.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to Carewest Signal Pointe, 6363 Simcoe Road S.W., Calgary, AB T3H 4M3.

In living memory of Brian Hanna, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200
