    Dear Marcia,
I am so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. When we were growing up in Edmonton – of all my friend’s parents – your mom was by far my favorite. She was always so kind and full of energy and fun. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your sisters and all of the grandchildren. I imagine that your mom was an amazing grandmother and she will be very missed by all of you.

  6. Dorothy and I have walked the same stretch of off-leash park for over a decade. It was always such a delight to engage in conversation with her. She was a bright woman with a sharp wit and a keen sense of humour. I enjoyed the stories she told of her professional life…but she was at her best when she spoke of her family. Her’s was a fierce pride, and she always spoke of her children and grandchildren with such love and respect.

I am sorry for your loss, but also grateful that I had the opportunity to know your wonderful Mom and Grandmother.

You are all in my thoughts,
    Kari Strutt

    To Marcia, Val and Corinne… and to your families;
There are no words to express how sad we were to hear of your mom’s passing. She lived well and was well loved. We were privileged to have known her.
Her Christmas letters were a joy to read – filled with pride and happiness for her daughters and your families.
Her smile was beautiful; her words were wise and kind and thoughtful- she was an amazing woman. You are all a reflection of your mom – and I know that she will always be with you – in memory and heart. And in time, may all those wonderful memories you have of her help to lessen your sadness.

Love from April and Dale Cooney and girls

  10. Marcia & Valerie,

You probably don’t remember me, but certainly know my Mom, Wilma. I have fond memories of your parents from when I was young & they lived in Calgary. They were a big part of my parents group of friends. Several years ago, I produced a video from all the home movies my Dad had made from those days, & your parents were in many of the scenes. Both your parents were always very good to me. It was nice to start seeing your Mom again when I went the Calgary curling club some week days to practice. She looked so good & it was great to see she was very active. I hadn’t seen her since we moved a few years ago, but my Mom & her certainly keep in touch. It was such a shock when my Mom called to say she had passed away. I am so sorry for your loss & my Mom’s loss of a good friend.

  11. Tom & Michele Szucs :

We can’t tell you how sorry we were to hear of your mother’s passing. She was such a sweet and kind lady and I will always remember her for that beautiful smile that she always displayed. I always admired her tireless energy- nothing ever seemed to slow her down.

I think your mother’s greatest legacy will be in the wonderful children she raised. She was so very proud of all of you. When we spoke to your Mom “over the fence” she always spoke of her children and grandchildren and how proud she was of each and everyone of you. She enjoyed the years her granddaughter was staying with her while attending University.

I will miss those “across the fence chats your mom and I had. She was always quick to start a conversation and I will miss her wisdom and great stories of times gone by.

I hope that you will find the inner strength to get you through this sad and difficult time. You have our very deepest and sincere sympathy.

  16. Leslie Shikaze :

I heard about Dorothy’s passing from our community newsletter–whose editor met Dorothy when they walked their dogs–just one example of how she touched so many people. I worked with Dorothy at Esso when she worked with the Comptroller. She was such a brght, and friendly face in an otherwise serious workplace. I so enjoyed our chats. Mostly she talked about her family, her pride and joy. I am so sorry to hear she has passed, but I believe the sky now shines more brightly. She will be missed.

  17. Don and Donna West :

We were shocked to hear of Dorothy’s sudden passing in the recent edition of the Esso Annuitant’s magazine. We first met Dorothy through the Aquacize group at the Trico Center and then through the Esso various activities. She was always so energetic and cheerful. A delight each and every time we interacted with her. We will miss her dearly!
Our deepest condolences to her whole family of whom we know she loved dearly!
