Michael Francis Hallihan of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 26th, 2013, in the presence of his loving family.
Mike grew up in Victoria, BC, and moved to Edmonton, AB in 1971. There he obtained a B.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Alberta, and met his future wife, Theresa. They were married August 28th 1976. Mike was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He took great pleasure in teaching his children and will be remembered for his love of solving problems, from fixing cars to making wine. Mike was passionate about his profession; he worked as a P. Eng. for Shell Canada for almost 20 years, was a member of CSA for 25 years, and started Skystone Engineering in 1997 with partners. Mike’s best times were spent with his family and friends at their cabin in Newell County, sailing, building decks, and socializing. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all of those who knew him.
Mike is survived by his wife Theresa; children Daniel, Karin, Gregory (Laura); siblings Chris (Gloria), Peter (Gina), Marj (Robert), Sheila (Doug), Tony; siblings in-law Dave (Rhonda), John (Sue), Bill (Joyce), Mike (Judy); numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Constance and Michael, and his mother and father in law; Stephen and Effie.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 7p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Corpus Christi Parish (404 Northmount Place N.W.) on Friday, May 31st, 2013 at 2p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Palliative Home Care Program (Suite 800- 11012 MacLeod Trail S.E. Calgary, AB T2J 6A5 (403) 943-0615). Please specify funds be directed towards patients in need or equipment for staff.
