HALL – Jason Christopher

July 25, 1969 – June 4, 2011

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jason Hall of Calgary on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the age of 41 years.

Jason will be profoundly missed by his wife Celina; daughters, Sophie Louise, Kelly and Sarah; parents Frank and Louise; sister and brother-in-law Christine and Kevin; nephew and niece Kyle and Kelcie; and dear family friend Harry Lane. He will also be missed by many extended family members from Montreal and the fraternity of close friends and business associates in the Oil and Gas Sector.

Jason was passionate for ‘life experiences’ and he brought his vitality, amazing sense of humour and endless generosity to everything he touched. He loved playing golf, skiing, traveling the globe, cooking, spending quality time with family and cheering for the Montreal Canadiens. He was filled with a fervent desire to educate himself and his children and he even completed an Executive MBA while working full-time at Suncor Energy. For all of us, his wonderful life ended too soon.

A Celebration of Jason’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, your loving support is the greatest gift of all.

In living memory of Jason Hall, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

Offer Condolence for the family of HALL – Jason Christopher

I worked with Jason in Sarnia on the Genesis project and enjoyed his sense of humour and hearing his stories of his family in Calgary. He was so proud of his girls. My deepest condolences to Celina and all of Jason’s family and friends. He will be missed by many.

I had the pleasure of working with Jason at Suncor a few years ago, and very quickly got to know him as a sincerely friendly, generous, outstanding quality person. Jason was highly regarded as a professional, and I will always remember him as energetic and most of all, for his contageous sense of humour and lust for life.
I am profoundly shocked and saddened by his sudden passing, my sincere condolences to his wife, children and family.

Feeling for your sadness and grief at this time~

You’ve penned a truly wonderful summary of his Jason’s unique personal vibrance.

I have never sang karaoke before, but that New Year’s at your house along with Jason- he generously cheered me on and made me feel like an 80’s star. It was the best Holiday celebration with friends I’ve had.

All too soon…and not enough time..but the memories do live forever.

Oh my goodness, this is so sad. Jason has been such a dear friend over the past 12 years of my life. We met in 2000 at SNC Lavalin working on the Petro-Canada Big Ed Project. I was a project engineer, and Jason was a buyer – and a spunky one at that. Years later, as I was going through a divorce, Jason was always there for me, kind of like an older brother, listening, and supporting. He was awesome. We lost touch in about 2006 and then just recently reconnected through Linkedin. We had planned to get together to catch up. Celina, I’m so very sorry for your loss. I haven’t met your girls and it’s been a really long time since I’ve seen you. I want to wish you my deepest and sincerest condolences. Anything I can do, to help make this easier, I am here. Love, Colette

This was such terribly shocking news. Our hearts and deepest sympathy go out to you Celina, and all of your family, both close and extended.

Jason and I first met almost twenty-five years ago at Willow Park and in a very short time, Jason became a pivotal person and close friend in my life. He introduced my wife Renia and I on a blind date twenty years ago. The fact that we remain very happily married makes him one of the most successful matchmakers of the past two decades. He coached me through thirty-six holes of golf, toting my clubs and cheering me on when I attained my CPGA playability. When Jason was looking for a career change, I steered him towards the procurement world and he took off. Those are a few true ‘life experiences’ that really stand out and I will always fondly remember those times with Jason.

While Jason and I haven’t kept in touch in recent years to the close extent that we used to, I’ve always felt a special connection with Jason, and he seemed to have a way of creating those close connections with so many through his genuine interest in others. If I had to describe Jason’s character in one word, that word would be ‘authentic’.

Our deepest condolences during this very difficult time and may you always cherish the many life experiences you shared together as a family.

I’m so sorry Celina. When I think of Jason, I think about the way he was around you……full of love, happiness and adoration. The times I spent with Jason (and you) are very special to me. I was surprised by how quickly we became friends and truly enjoyed every minute we spent together. I regret not having more contact with you both over the past few years. My thoughts are with you and your girls right now.

  17. I have been friends with Jason for a decade and he has been one of the best friends I have ever had. Jason loved to travel and to learn so much and we shared that connection. I would like to think that now his spirit can go anywhere he wants to go and that he can visit each of us and hang out with his grandmother and with Bobbie both of whom he loved so dearly.

Jason enjoyed nothing more than to debate every subject fully and passionately in his pursuit of finding a higher and best truth and to understand the world in all its wonder and confusion. I’m not done having political, social and ethical arguments with him yet so there are many discussions that will follow with Jason and given his wisdom and stubborn nature, I don’t plan to prevail on all counts. I never did. His perspectives will always be with me in my mind, heart and conscience. Jason was interested in a spiritual practice of compassion, genorosity and empathy and he didn’t just read about it, he brought it into his relationships with people and animals. His kindness has touched so many of us and his energy and warmth is not only unforgettable it has become a part of us.

Jason, as all of us know, had a quick wit and a stunning sense of humour, and a self-depricating one at that. I once saw him in a bright red Calgary Flames hockey jersey, long blue satin basketball shorts with a florescent yellow stripe on the sides and cowboy boots sporting a red shock of perfectly kempt hair (to be fair, it was during the hockey playoffs); I doubled over laughing and asked him what the heck he was up to dressed like that and he said, “Well Caroline, I’m going to get the mail. Go Flames Go!”. And then he walked off down 17th Avenue with purpose. He made my day and I’m sure he made the day of every single person that saw or met him that day. That was his way.

My thoughts are with Jason and my deep grief cannot be expressed in this forum to his family. As long as I have known Jason, you have always been my family too. That includes you too Harry. Time and geographical distance doesn’t change this. Celina and girls, my heart is broken for you. You were the wife and family Jason always longed for, adored and loved with all of his heart and soul. I am thinking of you and I am always here for you. Always.

    Caroline Carnerie
