Condolence Messages

  1. I am probably the only one including Aunt Selma that remembers this but she was my God Mother. Of course now that I have turned 70, it is of absolutely no importance or relevance either except to say that when I was a little kid she always remembered my birthday with a medal or holy card. As a little kid, she always made me feel special for being her God Child and I wish I would have told her that.

  2. I recall with humour the times when at home in Beiseker visiting her folks, Selma, in full black and white Ursuline habit would wait until after dusk then ‘sneak’ down the west road to our house. The chuckles and laughter with our Mom recalling less pious, pre-convenant antics of their times together brought great joy to both – and to us kids. In later visits over the years, I always saw her unique sparkle emerge. Since those early years, I have always been partial to nuns with a sense of quiet mystery. Eventually I married one. Thanks Selma for your inspiration! Your humility and joy have blessed us all.

  3. Fran Ziemmer (Hagel) :

Auntie Selma growing up, you were always one to be around the dinner table with many stories about mom and dad which entertained all of us kids. Will miss your sincerity for everything that you believed in. Rest in Peace. You will truly be missed.

  5. Auntie Selma was always an inspiration and the very special lady I am proud to be named after. Her quiet laughter at my feeble attempts to speak and understand German will truly be missed. It must have been quite a celebration when the family gathered to greet her upon her arrival in heaven. May she rest in peace.

  8. Sr. Pat Turner :

I want to let the family of Selma know of my sympathy and prayers, at this joy-sorrow time as Selma goes HOME. Selma entered the community next after me, and I still remember the quiet, good-humoured woman, generous and willing, with such a contageous giggle. I have not seen Selma in years, but did keep up some contact by phone. I realize that illness sapped her strength in recent years, and rejoice with her, and you, at her death, even though she will be missed.
People here in Chatham who knew her speak highly of her, and sympathize with you,
    Sr. Pat
