We had the pleasure of meeting George at Hillcrest while spending time with our mother who was there for 16mo.She passed this past dec.5.He will be missed by everyone there. We sat near him and became friendly as he could understand our conversations in Ukranian. He was loving, kind, considerate, friendly, attentive to everyone,a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile that he shared readily. He lived this last very difficult part of his life with such courage, acceptance and dignity. He was a comfort to us as visitors but especially important to the other residents who benefited the most from his presence there. We are happy that we met him and sad that he is gone. Our condolences go out to his sister, nieces and nephews ,god-daughter and companion.Sincerely,Irene and Scott Leyland.

  4. Jacqueline Nind :

My heartfelt sympathy and much love to you Wendy and Stan. Now Uncle George and my mother can help feed one another up in the heavens ,and have a few laughs. I can still remember him getting in and out of bed; the nurses would put in bed, he would get out, they would put him back in ,and than I would say “Uncle George what are you trying to do to those poor nurses” and he would look at me and just smile. He was having fun getting all the attention. God bless him and now his suffering is done. You both were so wonderful with him Wendy, and I know he appreciated all that you did for him. It is so sad that the family lost out on his last days. I know how special that time is. God bless you Wendy and Stan. Lots of love, Jacqueline

  5. My Dear Friend Wendy:

Many people may not realize the very special relationship you had with Uncle George. You had the kind of father-daughter relationship everyone wants to have. You spent so much time together, few daughters can feel the love you shared for each other over the years.

Each of you loved and cared for the other through the decades, and you were there for him through the roughest times at the end. He loved you as you loved him…unconditionally. It was a great love and it is a great loss for you, my friend.

Take the time to celebrate his life on Friday, and be grateful for the large part you were able to play in it.

    Love
    Terri

  7. Wendy,
Although we never had the opportunity to meet Uncle George, we both feel we have lived through the good years with Uncle George from your wonderful stories and how much your eyes shined and your face lit when his name arose. He was a very lucky man to have you in his life, and then that luck doubled when Stan entered both of your lives. While we all grieve for Uncle George’s passing, we know he was ready to move to the other side of the mountain. He now joins your Mom in leaving behind all the pain and suffering of human life and can look down on you both and be so very proud and happy at where you both are.

    love Al and Yvonne
