April 20, 1917 – February 5, 2012
Holding the hand of his Goddaughter Wendy McOmber, George Guzak (Uncle George) died peacefully the morning of Sunday, February 5, 2012. His passing was with the same grace and quiet dignity with which he lived his life. While it is with great sorrow that we let him go, our hearts are relieved to see an end to his suffering. We say goodbye with love in our hearts and release him into the Lord’s care.
Besides his Goddaughter Wendy (Stan Schwartzenberger), Uncle George is survived by his sister Sophie Hluchaniuk of Ashcroft, BC who will be 99 on her birthday in July. He is also survived by his friend and companion of almost fifty years, Al Carlson of the Bethany Care Facility. Also remembering Uncle George with love are his nephews, Bill (Pauline), Peter (Beryl), Wayne (Marilyn), and Jerry Guzak and nieces, Helen Shelestynski, Angelin (Brian) Johnson, Sonya (Keith) Aher, Mary Irwin, Natalie Elliott and Darleen (John) Rice. Uncle George will also be remembered by his many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Uncle George was predeceased by his parents John and Anastashia; and his brothers and their wives, Nick (Molly), Dick, Peter (Florence) and Mike (Stella), as well as Pat Guzak and his niece Olga Thompson and great-niece Tracy Owen.
