Condolence Messages

  1. Dear Norma, Pam, and Christine,

Barb told me about David. I am so sorry to hear, I didn’t know he had been ill. He was always very welcoming and personable when I knew him at St. Laurence. He will be sadly missed.

    Love,
Marla, Steve, Nathan, Christopher and Elizabeth White

    Norma
Please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of David. It was quite a shock as I had met with him only a few weeks ago and he seemed fine. Knowing David from the time many years ago, when he studied Holy Nativity for his PhD, we had great respect for his intelligence and humor. We enjoyed his sermons and ministry when he served as interim at HN before Bryan arrived. On a more personal note, I greatly appreciated his advice to me during the past year as I investigated my “call” to ordination. He was my guide and mentor. We will all miss him very much.
Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and your daughters during this very difficult period of loss.
Again we extend our deepest sorrow and sympathy to your family during this time.
    Bob & Jan Mummery

  9. Tracie Sorette :

I am shocked and saddened by the passing of Father David. To the best of my ability, I will endeavor to treat others the way he did with kindness, humour, sensitivity and unconditional support. In the short time I’ve known him, he tricked me into learning more about life and people than all of my experiences together. I am a better person for knowing him and I will do my best to live my life with gratitude, grace, and the sincerity by which he lived. David taught me this.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family on your loss. David will be missed.

  10. To all in David’s family, my deepest sympathy. I knew David first when he was a teenager and living in Yorkton, SK. Later, I had many opportunities to share Bible studies and happy times with him when he was a student in Regina. I was privileged to be in the choir when he was ordained in Yorkton. It was such a shock when I heard about his untimely death as prayers were offered for him and his family at St. Paul’s Cathedral yesterday. I know he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

  13. Dear Norma and family,

We are so sorry to hear of David’s illness and of his passing. We have fond memories of him. He was especially sympathetic
to me (Doreen) at St. Lawrence, after he had quit smoking, and knowing of my bad habit, assured me that there was still an ashtray
in the office! We hope the Lord will surround you with his love, comfort and peace.

    With Love and Prayers,

    Doreen & Warren Hindle

  14. Oh what is there to say
    To comfort you this day
    When your dear one
    Has been called away?

    What words can express
The grief that strikes one’s chest
    When away from us
    Our beloved ones are pressed?

    A thousand words can never
    Paint an accurate picture
    Nor express our inner feelings
    Of sorrow joy nor hurt.

    Maybe this will help
    That I some aid comport
By reminding you of God’s embrace
    From above to lend support.

All my love, you are in my thoughts and prayers at this sorrowful time. In time your memories will bring great joy. I remember how his eyes seemed to pierce right through me like he read my soul, but how it was always gentle.
