
August 30, 1978 – February 20, 2010
Leane Guthrie of Calgary passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the age of 31 years. Leane grew up in Salmon Arm, B.C. but has lived in Calgary for most of the last twelve years. She studied at Mount Royal College and University of Carleton to earn her degree in criminology, and at SAIT to earn her legal assistant diploma. Leane was very involved with Central United Church the last few years, and she gave freely of her time in volunteer programs such as Inn From The Cold and Sunday school. Leane was loved and treasured by many and her spirit lives on in our hearts.
Leane is survived by her parents Faye and Arnold Guthrie; a brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Suzanne Guthrie; a sister and brother-in-law, Corinne Guthrie and Allen Cameron; a niece and three nephews, Allison Guthrie, Adam Guthrie, Ethan Cameron, and Isaac Cameron; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Leane is predeceased by her beloved dog, Duchess, but they are smiling together again in heaven.
Leane’s family would like to extend heartfelt thank to the community of Central United Church in Calgary as they have been Leane’s second family the last five years. The Church community gave her strength, solace, friendship and purpose, and much, much love.
Funeral Services will be held at Central United Church (131 – 7th Avenue S.W.) on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
