Bimla Gupta, aged 71, died peacefully on January 28, 2013 at her home in Calgary after a long struggle with rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Bimla was the youngest daughter of a loving Punjabi family. She grew up with three elder sisters and three elder brothers. As a young child, Bimla showed a strong desire to learn. She was determined to attend college like her brother and successfully earned a degree in economics. In 1968, Bimla married Maharaj Krishan Gupta, and two years later moved to Calgary, Canada. Alongside her husband, she worked hard to build a life in Canada and raise her two daughters and two sons. She derived great joy from her family and in recent years, was delighted to be able to spend time getting to know her 8 grandchildren.
Bimla is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughters, Neelam and Lily; sons, Suneel and Anil; sons-in-law, Anil and Bobak; daughters-in-law, Ruby and Sulabha; grandsons, Avinand, Ronik, Jai, Sameer, and Shaan; granddaughters, Aniya, Raina, and Kavita; and extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219 – 4th Street N.W., (within the valley of Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Swami Sodiyal presiding. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
