GUNST, Ida Louise

January 14, 1926 – May 10, 2012

Ida was a strong, loving and lustig wife, mother, sister, Oma and Oma-ma.

Her laughter was infectious. Her embrace was meaningful. Her home was always full of little treasures, albeit mostly porcelain and cat-shaped. She found the goodness, beauty and potential in every little thing and never passed up the opportunity to hold a baby or touch the nose of a cat or dog. She loved her family more than anything and always put others’ needs before her own. She epitomized generosity of spirit. She found friends in all good people. She would find you the right pair of shoes without fail and as a 25-year employee of Sears never failed to meet someone she had sold shoes to on her travels. She followed her husband to Canada and now she follows him, 38 days later, on to the next adventure.

Ida lived fully and completely and touched all who knew her with kindness and affection.

Her children Errol Gunst and Ursula Taylor and their families will celebrate her life at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Many thanks to the amazing staff at the Beverly Centre – Midnapore and Lisa Knie for their compassionate care.

In living memory of Ida Gunst a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park/ Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200

Ursula…I just happened to see that your mother had passed and it seems your father passed not long ago.
I so sorry for your losses, especially coming so close together. I remember both your parents fondly and had often thought of them (and you also). My memories of them make me smile.
