GUNST, Erhard (Gus)

January 10, 1920 –April 2, 2012
A life well lived

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Erhard Gunst, loved husband, father, Opa and Opa-Pa. A man whose life shall be remembered for his deeds, his talent and his deep love of life and family. He leaves a legacy of generosity, art and sacrifices to both family and loved ones.

He came to Canada a Master Stonemason in 1956, was the Art Director at Channel Two for twenty four years, designed and painted the grandstand sets and props at the Calgary Stampede for thirty three years.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.     Our conddolences to the family on the passing of Gus. As a young PR man at the Stampede and later a sports reporter/announcer at 2&7 I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Gus during the Stampede and at the station. He was a wonderful man…so much talent and a real commitment to our city. He set the high standards we strive for today. Our best to the family.
