GRAY, Garnet Norman

June 21, 1957 – Moose Jaw, SK
August 23, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Our dearly beloved father, brother, uncle and good friend passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in the compassionate care of Southwood Hospice. Family and friends were a constant presence, sharing laughter and tears, and treasured memories of his life. Thanks to everyone who was there for support. Garnet was a kind and generous individual, always ready to lend a hand to a friend or stranger. He was a man who made a difference. Garnet spent most of his career in the steel industry and owning his own business, “Sundance Crane”, with his good friend Conrad Perrault. Their catch phrase was “Blood, Sweat and Gears”!

Garnet is lovingly remembered by his daughter Haley; brother Marvin (Doreen) Gray; sister Bonnie (Metro) Stasyk; nieces and nephews, Curtis (Amaris) Gray and their children, Annabelle and Gabe, Cara (Joe) Steiner, Tyler (Erica) Gray, Karla Stasyk (Mark Penney), Cody Stasyk (Chloe Sardin); his aunts Lois Shauf and Leona Gray; uncle Charlie Gray; and many wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his father Robert Gray in 1976 and by his mother Alma Gray-Schock in 2014.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, August 28, 2014 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Gathering of family and friends will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY Fish Creek on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to be at a later date in Caron, SK. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Garnet’s name directly to Southwood Hospice, 211 Heritage Drive S.E. Calgary, AB T2H 1M9.

In living memory of Garnet Gray, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: 403-256-9575.

  5. Jack and ann clare :

It is with great shock and sadness of hearing about Garnet’s death today. Jack worked with Garnet at Drummond McCall steel company. We had many gatherings, company and personal. We enjoyed going to his place, where seeing he was so lay back, making a book case from empty bottle cases. Another time, they were at our apartment, where a motorcycle gang lived in the basement and having a party, Garnet thought we should go down (we were invited), and we did. When asked Garnet, ” how are you?” His response would be “ten thousand percent.” We had great memories. It is with our deepest sympathy to family and friends
