    I Wrote Your Name

I wrote your name in the sand,
but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name in the sky,
but the wind blew it away.
So I wrote your name in my heart,
and that’s where it will stay, always”

My fondest memory of Uncle Walter was the magnificent feast he prepared when I married Bob in 1987. We shared many good times since.

What do you say when an ‘old’ friend of 60 years suddenly leaves you behind. I will never forget you, Big Fella – you can’t be duplicated and you certainly can’t be replaced. The pain and fuzzy images are all gone now and you can now more fully appreciate the complete freedom that comes to those who are faithful to their Maker. Enjoy every moment with the other members of your family who have arrived ahead of you.
We will always love you and your generosity.

What do you say when an ‘old’ friend of 60 years departs from your life? Over the past sixty years Walter has been a faithful and generous part of our life. His passing leaves a huge void in our lives. He will be missed by his large community of friends. But now, the pain and suffering is gone and he is resting comfortably in the arms of his Maker – the reward that comes to those who faithfully follow in his footsteps.
Enjoy your family and friends, Wally, You deserve the peace after your journey here on earth. You always said there would be better times ahead, and now you know it is true.

Our love and appreciation for everything.

  9. Dear Cookie & Family….
Walter definitely added some spice to life. Ron was always an excellent judge of character and I always remember the first time he took me to meet his friend Wally. He wasn’t sure if I’d take to Wally…said he could be kind of “grumpy” but that they were good friends. I didn’t know what to expect but I should have trusted Ron’s judgement. Wally & I hit it off the moment we met! I like people who tell it like it is & that was Wally for sure. Grumpy maybe…but kind hearted to a fault. After that first meeting we didn’t dare visit Calgary without calling him. And we better have a good excuse if we turned down a standing invite to stay at his place! ( Thanks, Cookie, for all the advance cleaning you did of dirt that he couldn’t see) . So now that my Ron has gone, it’s left to me to speak on his behalf. As hard as it is to let a loved one go, just picture that trio of Bill Dardis, Ron Denney & Wally Gough getting together in the great beyond. It makes me laugh & I know Ron will be enjoying his company as much as he always did in THIS life. To Wally, my unlikely friend, thanks for the memories.
Hugs to the family, Barb Denney

  13. Cookie & Family,

I am sorry to hear of Walter’s passing, but appreciate the fact that he is no longer suffering with his illnesses. It doesn’t seem fair, that a good life has to end in such pain and suffering. But we will not remember that, we will remember the loving, funny man who used to always sit at the end of the table at those precious family dinners!

I was fortunate to spend time with you and Walter this past Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving. He always reassured me that he could not see me, but he could hear me….go figure!

One last memory to share was when my Grandma Denney passed away, and Walter was still living in his house. He put on the biggest feast for all of us after the funeral, one that made my father, Ron, so proud to be his friend. He was a wonderful host to all of us from the Coast. Dad always spoke fondly of Walter, describing him as “one of the good guys”!

RIP Walter …you will be missed, “Until we meet again”
