GORDON-COOPER, George Francis (Frank)

George Francis (Frank) Gordon-Cooper beloved husband of Barbara passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the age of 77 years.

Besides his loving wife Barbara of fifty-five years, Frank is survived by his three children, Frank (Gwen), Kristine (Mark), and David (Lori); five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Marshall, Kurt, Carter, and Nicolas; step-granddaughter Casey (Brian); and by his siblings, Patricia of Sacramento, CA, Phillip(Beryl) of Okotoks, AB, Alan (Marilyn) of High River, AB, and Elizabeth of Creston, BC. Frank was predeceased by his mother Vivian, father Francis, and step-brother Jim Henderson.

Frank was born in Vancouver, BC and lived in Calgary most of his life. Frank worked at Foothills Printers in Calgary after attending Western Canada High School. He moved to Cranbrook in 1968 to open a radiator and marine shop with his brother-in-law Carl Joki. Ever the entrepreneur, Frank returned to Calgary in 1978 were he spent the rest of his career as an owner operator of Apache Superior Printing Ltd. Frank was a member of the Craftsmen Club and the Printing and Graphics Industry Association.

Frank spent time managing a business and raising three children. He enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his family, especially in the area of the East Kootenays. He built a cabin in this area for his wife and him to enjoy with their kids and grandkids. Upon retirement, Frank spent time at the cabin fishing, playing with his toys, entertaining his kids, grandkids and enjoying the lazy days of summer.

Frank spent his winters in Calgary traveling, going on cruises and seeing the world. He especially enjoyed his trips with his brother Phil, as well as the family trip to Disneyland with his kids and grandkids.

  2. I was very sorry to read of Frank’s passing. I had the privilege of working with Frank when I was employed with Coast Paper. We developed a very good relationship in those years. Frank was always a man of integrity and he was one of my favorite customers on which to call. My sincere prayers and thoughts are with you Barbara at this time.
