GOODALL – Ann Marie (nee Jacobson), RN, BN, CGN

September 8, 1949 – June 10, 2011

Ann lost her short struggle with mesothelioma on June 10, 2011.

Predeceased by her father, Ann is survived by her husband Roy, her two children Stacey and Ehren, her mother Frances, her five siblings and their spouses, and many nieces and nephews.

Born Ann Jacobson in Calgary in September 1949, she completed high school in Arvida, Quebec, and commenced a lifelong nursing career in 1968 when she entered the psychiatric nursing program in Ponoka. While attending a nursing module at the Calgary General Hospital in 1969 she met and married Roy Goodall. They immediately moved to Ottawa where she graduated as a RN at the Ottawa Civic hospital in 1972. During the next 38 years Ann worked in a children’s hospital, several general hospitals, a school, a hospice, and several nursing homes. After Roy’s military career ended in 2000 and they returned to Calgary, Ann commenced working for a general medical unit at the Foothills Medical Centre. In 2008, Ann obtained a Bachelor of Nursing from the U of C. Her tenure as a Nurse Clinician ended in 2010 when she required cardiac surgery. Ann loved cooking, crafts and travelling, particularly in Europe where she lived for eight years. Ann built a large collection of cooking and craft books as she pursed her passions for cooking, knitting, and Belgian lace making. Ann will be remembered for her kindness, strength and compassion.
