GOLDADE, Rochelle Carolle

May 26, 1961 – Prelate, SK
July 7, 2014 – Calgary, ab

Rochelle Carolle Goldade, beloved wife of Darrell Jones of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the age of 53 years.

Rochelle was born on May 26, 1961 in Prelate, SK to Florence and Sam Goldade. The family moved to Calgary shortly after her birth. Rochelle always had a passion to be a teacher and taught in the Calgary Separate School system for twenty-eight years, teaching Physical Education and coaching all sports. She was a dedicated teacher and coach that was adored by everyone for her compassion for life and never ending smile and hearty laugh. Rochelle was a natural athlete and excelled at all sports. She loved playing baseball and was successful at the provincial and national levels in Ladies and Mixed. As time went on, she moved to curling and golf, winning bonspiels and was credited with two “hole in ones”.

Besides her loving husband Darrell, she is also survived by her step-children Josh (Leah) Jones; grandchildren, Scarlett and Vera of Duncan, BC, Colby Jones of London, England, and Rheann (Kyle) Clay of Calgary; her parents Sam and Florence Goldade; sister Ronalda (Howie) Scott; brother Bravin Goldade; nephews Landon and Tyrell Scott, and Jared Goldade; nieces Seirin and Kalida Goldade all of Calgary; and father-in-law Vernon Jones of Stettler, AB; brother-in-law Larry (Laurie) Jones of Stephenville, Texas. She also has numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and oh so many friends and teaching colleagues.

We already miss her energy, zest for life and that never ending smile.

A Celebration of Rochelle’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Really sad to hear of Rochelle’s passing. As a teacher in the system I ran into her over the years, mostly associated with school sports teams. She was so much fun! I didn’t know she was sick, but I hope you have some comfort in your time together and your memories. My husband also just passed away on June 19, after a long illness. He was 54. He as well knew Rochelle.
It is quite overwhelming, all the to do list stuff I’m finding even more so after the memorial and funeral. Don’t rush and remember to breathe and take advantage of friends and family’s comfort and offerings. I’m told it will get easier in time…

While I haven’t seen Rochelle for quite some time, I am so sad to hear of her passing. Our families were quite close and we spent many a Saturday night with my dad (Tony Hinger), Uncle Vic, Uncle Rick and of course Uncle Sam on that big ole bass creating endless hours of musical memories. Rochelle was so very much fun (and I’ve finally forgiven her for putting that gum in my hair!). It warms my heart to read she never got over being a kid at heart, and hers is a legacy of living life out loud and encouraging others to do the same. Rest in peace my friend – I’m sure heaven is a bit more fun now that you’ve arrived.

Hugs and prayers to her family and friends,

Although I am only a couple of years younger than Rochelle, as her little cousin I always remember thinking, “I want to grow up to be just like her!” Rochelle had this contagious smile and laugh, she was incredibly talented as an athlete (I loved going to watch her play ball as a kid), and her enthusiastic love of sport as a PE teacher along with her kind and caring disposition were admirable as a colleague. I loved going to ‘Uncle Sam’s house’ because it was so warm and inviting. Although I was envious of her nickname, “Beetle” (how cool!), Rochelle was funny and energetic, so it was hard not to have a good time while there. Although we occasionally saw one another at Aunty Carolle’s Christmas gatherings, it was more common to “catch up” in our PE circles. I would often laugh when I was mistaken for Rochelle (who could compare to her!?), and proud when mistaken as her “sister” (when people didn’t know better).

Rochelle will be missed by her colleagues, former students, friends and family. My condolences are sent out especially to Uncle Sam, Aunty Flo, Ronalda, Bravin and Darrell. You know our family understands the grief and hurt felt from your loss… however, I know that mom and dad have already welcomed Rochelle with open arms. I am certain they are already partying in heaven with a sing-song.

    Many hugs,

Teachers can have a profound impact on generations of children. I consider myself blessed to have had Mrs. Goldade as a homeroom teacher and coach throughout junior high school at St. Cyril. Her energy was contagious and her ability to build confidence was a true gift. Mrs. Goldade gave me the encouragement I needed during very difficult times and I will always remember her with fond thoughts and a full heart.

To Darrel and family. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Rochelle. When I had the opportunity to umpire your teams Darrel and Rochelles teams, in Calgary and throughout Canada, you and Rochelle treated me with respect and the outmost courtesy and I thank you for that. What a wonderful couple you were.

    To Darryl and Family…

It has taken me a while to extend my condolences and for that I apologize. I was at the service and it think it was a wonderful (albeit heart-wrenching) memorial to a wonderful person and a dear friend. I will miss Rochelle in so many ways. Her mascara-smudged, tear filled laughter (always made me feel so much funnier than I am), her quick wit and ever-so-easy way of getting talked into going for a beer (or two) and her amazing connection with everyone who came in contact with her…teachers, students, friends, family, the list is endless.
Darryl, I will be thinking of you and hope you find solace in this trying time.

I will miss you, my funny crazy friend…

    To All of Rochelle’s Family,

I was so sorry to hear of Rochelle’s passing. I had the honor of teaching with Rochelle at St. Cyril’s and oh what fun we had – definitely a highlight of my career with the district (28 yrs)
Then our paths crossed again as we played together at Carnmoney golf course – a fabulous team mate! Rochelle will never be forgotten as she touched so many lives in her very short life.
