  8. Connie Sperry :

It has been years since I saw you and Cathy, Ted and was shocked and deeply saddened when my mom told me of Cathy’s passing. Her sense of humor as well as her poignant empathy and caring for the “disenfranchised” and less fortunate in our society connected me to her even more than our blood kinship. As I viewed the webcam memorial service, I was again reminded of her deep sensitivity and genuine kindness to others. I was not surprised to hear her commitment and involvement with an ESL program. We had lost touch, and I did not know how much she had developed and dedicated her energies in helping others, especially the immigrant community. I was not surprised at what a wonderful grandmother she was because I remember her as mother when we would get together with our kids years ago. Shelby and Heather, you probably do not remember me but I certainly remember you two and realized how many years had past when I saw you both speaking at the services. You two have become very elegant and articulate young women, and I am deeply sorry for your loss. The tribute you gave to your mother and the honor you bestowed upon her will be part of the spirit moving forward in your lives ahead. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families as you move through the grief of losing someone so dear. If you are ever in the Seattle area, please contact me. I would love to connect with you in your adult years. I certainly enjoyed you in your younger years. God Speed!

    Ted and Family,

Thank you so very much for calling with the webcast info. It enabled us to be included and be there with all of you for the touching tribute and memorial for Cathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this tremendously difficult journey ahead. It is our hope that time can somehow eventually ease your pain. To me, Cathy has been not only my special cousin, but a dear friend as well as the sister I never had. We all go back so many years and thankfully have so many wonderful memories of experiences with her and all of you. This has left a huge, gaping hole in my heart larger than the grandest of any canyons. She will never be forgotten.

With love to all of you,
