GLAB, Edwin (Ted)

May 28 1931 – May 19, 2012

Edwin (Ted) Glab, 80 years young, of Airdrie, Alberta reached the end of his life long journey on May 19, 2012 with his wife and family by his side.

Ted was born in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on May 28, 1931. At age 17 he began a life-long career with the Canadian National Railway until his retirement in 1986. Ted was married to Gloria Lestashyn on June 2, 1954 and they were married for 58 years. Ted and Gloria resided in Regina, Sask. until 2004 when they relocated to Airdrie, AB. They had many great adventures together after his retirement wintering in Arizona, Florida and California with the last 15 years spent in his beloved Weslaco, Texas.

Poppa’s passion in life was always his family first. He also loved to golf and his family and golf buddies shared this with him at home and in Texas. Ted loved to build and work with his hands from intricate work on a television to homes and cottages; he was always ready to help. He had to know how things “worked”.

To celebrate his life, Ted leaves behind his beloved Gloria, daughters Dona (Jim) Kelly and Tracey (Les) Bryksa. His grandchildren Jason Kelly and Tiffany, Jarren Kelly and Jody, Ty Bryksa and Jenna Bryksa and his great-granddaughter Liliana Kelly.
He is also survived by his sisters Christine Masniuk, Alice (Jim) Stevenson and Marge (Ray) Borys . He also leaves behind other family and many friends in Regina and area, Southern Texas and Airdrie.

Ted requested a private family gathering to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice. Ted’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Dr. Henning and Dr. Alimohamed, and the compassionate staff at the Santauri Hospice at the Peter Lougheed Centre, all in Calgary.

“It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end”
