August 21, 1954 – Saskatoon, SK
June 25, 2013 – Calgary, AB
There comes a time when all warriors will lay down their swords and realize all battles will not be victorious. Our fearless warrior laid down her sword Tuesday, June 25, 2013 but not before fighting the hardest battle of her life.
Shirleen made us proud every day, with her amazing strengths and her undying will to survive. She warmed everyone with her infectious smile, and never once let her own pain deter that. Shirleen, along with her lifelong best friend and husband Bruce, celebrated forty years of marriage on April 14 of this year, and had big plans for the next forty. Shirleen and Bruce of Okotoks, have two sons, Jeremy (Blaine), and Chad (Kim), two young men who are proud to have the Mother and Father they have.
Shirleen complimented her life with the success of being the best Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Friend any one of us could have asked for, and will rest knowing that we live every day because it was her that showed us how.
Sissy, Ma, Mom, Sis or Shirleen, whatever each of us knew her by, realize she worked so hard at making everything picture perfect, and it will be so rewarding for her to see it all from above. We can all relax and breathe now, knowing she will be watching over us all. One day if we pay attention, we may even see her and her angel friends, riding the rainbow after the rain. Although that may not be far off, Shirleen is sadly missed by all of us.
