January 26, 1938 – May 27, 2012
Urbano Geremia, beloved husband of Ann, went into the arms of our Lord peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the age of 74, surrounded by his family.
Urbano was born in Rossano, Italy on January 26, 1938, one of ten children. He came to Canada with his brothers Pasqualino and Giuseppe in 1959 and shortly after met and married Ann, the love of his life for the past 50 years. He worked in the construction industry throughout his life, retiring in 1999. Although he was a dedicated worker, his family, friends, and church were the focus of his life. He loved to sing in the Italian Church Choir and had a passion for cooking, especially for his grandchildren. He loved watching his grandsons play hockey and watching all of his grandchildren’s activities. He spent his retirement years in service to Our Lady of Grace Church as Sacristan and to its community as a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Urbano spent many days as chauffeur to the new priests and helped in the running of many church projects and the church hall.
Urbano is survived by his adoring wife of 50 years, Ann, daughters Maria (Marco), Roberta (Mauro), and son Angelo (Francesca). He will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren David, Alyssa, Andrea, Cassandra, Jacob, Sara, and Jenna. Urbano is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and dear friends in Canada, Italy, and Ireland. He is also predeceased by his parents, Maria and Aurelio “Angelo” as well as three sisters, Dina, Natalia and Rosie.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
