It is with great sadness that the family of Vernon Roy Geib mourn his passing on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in Toronto, Ontario after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Vernon was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan August 2, 1949, the eldest son and second of nine children of Hilda and Zach. Vernon’s livelihood as an artist took him to Toronto, where he lived for 25 years, however, his utmost respect and adoration for his parents and his love for his close family brought him home on a regular basis. His paintings and portraits will hang in many homes to be admired for generations. We acknowledge his love for his special niece and nephew, Liesl (12) and Adam (10) Geib who were the apple of his eye. We give special thanks to James Ansley of Toronto, his dear friend of 25 years, who cared for Vern during his illness.
Vernon is survived by his parents Hilda and Zacharias Geib; his brother Gerard; six sisters and four brothers-in-law, Valarie, Toni Sutherland (Mickey), Audrey Guedo (Bob), Belinda, Beverley Rawcliffe (Steve), and Sharon Moffatt (Chris). He is also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews and two special aunts, Elizabeth Toni and Agnes Toni. Vernon is predeceased by his brother Eldon (1955-2000).
