GASCHNITZ – Kathleen “Kay” (nee McKee)

June 9, 1914 – February 3, 2010

Mom went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the age of 95.

They settled on a farm north of Munson, AB, and endured several hard years, later moving to a farm six miles north of Drumheller. They raised a family of four loving and beloved children. They moved to Calgary in 1967 after retiring from a successful farm life. Kay and Joe enjoyed a close family life, travelling to Europe and Newfoundland, where many of their relatives still reside.

Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, Joe, in November 1993; her parents Robert and Mildred McKee; sisters, Claudia and Vi; brother Percy; and great grandson Josiah. She is survived by her children, Joan (Don) Calvert, Penny Andrews, Joe (Shirley) Gaschnitz, and Nola (Darcy) Neufeld; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Les and sister Tim.

“Thank you dear Mom from your loving children, Joan, Penny, Joe and Nola”

  8. Harvey Trimble :

To Joan, Penny, Joe and Nola and extended families:

I want to extend my condolences on Aunt Kay’s passing. It is easy to say she had a full, wonderful and active life, as in her Energizer Bunny nickname, but it is never easy when the time comes to say goodbye. It was evident by the large crowd that there are many who will miss her vivacious personality. I want to congratulate Joe and Penny on the wonderful tributes you gave and also the tributes by your children, Kay’s grandchildren. It was a very nice service throughout. I can write a tribute for an occasion like that but I cannot deliver it like you did.

I will be making a contribution to Agape Hospice in Aunt Kay’s memory. They do a wonderful job there. I did not see Kay there as she was there such a short time but I had several visits with Uncle Bill when he was there. One of my best totem poles was auctioned off about 7-8 years ago in a fundraiser with half the proceeds going to Agape.

I know that Aunt Kay is in a new and wonderful place. Take comfort in knowing that.

    Harvey
