  4. David Neuburger :

I had the wonderful good fortune to share many adventures with Mike through the summer of 1981 as we worked together at Maligne Lake in Jasper and explored the area and the park. From this summer we built a lifetime friendship that later grew to include my wife and daughters.. Mike was always so friendly and generous with his time and support … and always ready to join us for a hike or meet us camping in the mountains. I will always cherish many great memories of Mike and his deep laugh.

May we all have Mike’s strength and let our happy memories of him carry us through the grief.

My heartfelt condolences at your loss

  5. My heartfelt condolences to Mike’s family and friends. My husband (John Glavina) and I met Mike at my sister’s wedding (Nan Lee and Dave Neuburger) 25 years ago. When we were living in Vancouver he visited us for a while and we enjoyed his company. On one of my visits to my sister with my little kids, Mike happened to be visiting, too. We all went for a hike and my son who was just a toddler at the time fell off a walking trail and Mike was quick to rescue him, while we stood by stunned at the steep precipice only a couple of feet from where my son lay. From that moment on, Mike carried my son on his shoulders for the rest of the hike. I think this memory speaks so much of what Mike was like and I think of him still as the gentle giant who saved my son’s life.

  6. Nicholas Lomasney :

Michael was a true friend. I first met him when we were at McGill, where we went through the rigors and follies of undergraduate life together. Michael had a great sense of humor and a terrific laugh. He was kind and cared deeply about his friends. While distance separated us, we kept in touch over the years and fortunately were able to get together over the holidays on occasion. Mike often talked about his great love of the mountains and how much he enjoyed skiing, hiking, and biking.

I am deeply saddened by Michael’s loss, but take some comfort in his being at peace.

    Please accept my sincerest condolences.
