GARCIA – Vincent

August 4, 1933 – July 25, 2010

After a brave struggle with cancer, Vincent passed away with his eldest daughter by his side at the Southwood Care Centre on July 25, 2010 at the age of 76, just ten days shy of his 77th birthday. Originally from Bilbao, Spain, Vincent moved to Canada at the age of 18, and worked as a carpenter for his entire career. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, tending to his vegetable garden, eating good food, and socializing and dancing with friends. Vincent is survived by his two daughters Emerald (Dave) and Kirsten, his beloved grandson Damien, his sister Carmen (Jack), brother Victor, nephew Robert (Kelly), and nieces Marilyn (Lin), Gillyan, Alison (Stuart) and Erin (Javier). He is also survived by numerous friends, an aunt in Spain and cousins in France.
He was predeceased by his parents Agustin and Dolores Garcia, and his sister-in-law Stephanie.

A memorial service and celebration in honour of Vincent’s birthday will be held at McInnis and Holloway Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary AB, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.     Dear Emerald and Kirsten

    I am sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I will be in Kelowna at Mike’s summer home and Mike and family are there too.

    They have twin boys 6 years old. Loreen has just changed jobs and she left for England today for two weeks work.

    I will not be able to be with all of you but I have great memories of your Mom and Dad as such good neighbors in Canyon Meadows..

    Perhaps if you are both living in Calgary we will see you at another time. Loreen’s name is now Cane [husband Greg] and she will be home about Aug. 15th.

  3. Dear Kirsten and Emerald, My thoughts are with you. There are so many memories of your Dad in my house, including the wonderful deck he built 30 years ago which is still perfect. I remember how much he enjoyed fresh, well prepared food, especially if it came from the sea. You have been blessed to have a Dad to be proud of.
