Joyce Fraser Fulton (nee Burton), born September 14, 1927, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, after fighting a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Throughout her life and especially in the face of this illness, Joyce provided an unmatchable example of compassion, caring and the love of life and friendship. Joyce was born in Winnipeg, MB and grew up in Medicine Hat, AB on her family’s V-T Ranch. On the ranch, Joyce loved working with animals and riding the range with her father Eugene. Joyce moved to Calgary in 1945 where she attended Mount Royal College and graduated as her class valedictorian. Joyce was a member of the Junior League and Daughters of the Nile and an avid bridge player, singer and piano player. She loved socializing and spending time with family and friends. Joyce’s spirit and sense of innocence touched all those who knew her.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by many, including her three children, Libby and her husband Glenn, Debbie and her husband Robin, and Richard and his wife Rhonda and their children Spencer and Shelby; her four stepchildren, Megan, Susan, Robert (Seaneen), and David (Sheri); and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister Margot; nephews William and Michael, two nieces, Sheri and Cyndi; close friend and father of her children Jack; and so many others. Joyce was predeceased by her parents Eugene and Betty Burton. We know that Joyce is currently riding her favourite horse Spice in the Medicine Hat grasslands with her father Eugene.
