April 2, 1918 – February 6, 2011
Paul passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6th, 2011 at the age of 92.
Paul is pre-deceased by his wife of 51 years, Rey. He is survived by his children Patricia (Scott) White, Chuck (Monique), Bob (Liza); grandchildren Matthew, Paul, Ashby, Lauren, Derek, Nick and Lana; sister Esther; sister-in-law Lillian; and several nieces and nephews.
Paul was born in Fort Morgan Colorado, the youngest of six children. He graduated with a Masters in Geology from the University of Nebraska and then joined the US Navy in 1941. At the end of the war, he joined several fellow Navy geologists at GeoPhoto Services, applying the aerial photo technology they used in the Navy to locate oil and gas. GeoPhoto brought him to Alberta where he met and married Rey, and settled down to make Calgary his home. Paul stayed involved in his profession his whole life, through CSPG, AAPG and Oilmen’s. He also loved to be active, engaging in many sports at the Glencoe Club and as an avid golfer at Canyon Meadows. Paul loved to sing, both Barbershop and as a member of the St. Andrews United Church choir for many, many years.
