FROESE, John

John Froese, loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather, passed away on February 21, 2012 at age 83 after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was also a cherished brother, uncle, friend and mentor, who contributed greatly to church, community and family life in Swift Current, Regina, Saskatoon, Victoria and Calgary. Over a thirty-two year career, he rose through the ranks from warehouseman to Vice President and General Manager with Westburne Inc. He was known as a skilled and fair negotiator, a manager committed to the highest standards of business performance and ethics, and a leader who inspired the best in others. He enjoyed life to the fullest, as a passionate golfer, artist and photographer. He was an avid reader who savored good jokes, puns and winters in Arizona. A man of faith, John figured prominently in service to his church, with a special commitment to youth and missions. An angel unawares, his witness in Christ and humble walk with God touched more lives than anyone will ever know.

John is survived by his wife, Reidun; four children and their spouses, Sherry and Eldon Adams, Dianne and Calvin Harvey, Sandra and Larry Roach, and Brian and Gloria Froese; as well as six grandchildren, Eric, Taylor and Courtenay Adams, and Jesyca, Casey and Jasper Froese. He was predeceased by parents Agnes and Jacob Froese; sister Mary Sartison; and brothers David and Jake Froese.

Funeral Services will be held at Beddington Pentecostal Church (16 Bermuda Drive N.W.) on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., preceded by viewing at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. 11. Dear Mrs. Froese, Sherry, Dianne, Sandra, Brian, my friend, and of course your spouses and children.

I was away this past weekend and heard about John’s passing when I got home. It makes me sad.

The obituary is beautifully written and an accurate description of a good man–and I don’t use the term “good” tritely–who influenced my life.
