  2. God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be
So He put his arms around you
And whispered “Tom, come with Me”

In tears we saw you sinking
    We watched you fade away
    Our hearts felt physically broken
You fought so hard to stay

But when we saw you sleeping
    So peacefully free from pain
We could not wish you back
    To suffer more again

Never does a day go by
That I don’t think of you
A lump forms deep within my chest
And my tears begin to flow

So many times I’ve needed you
    To talk, to share, to laugh;
If love could have saved you
    You never would have died.

So keep your arms around him Lord
    And give Tom special care
Make up for all he suffered
    And all that seemed unfair
