May 7, 1916 – September 12, 2010
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend.
Dorothy Louise Freeman (nee Langley) was born and raised in Calgary. After graduating from East Calgary High School and Business College she worked for the Gas Company. Dorothy married Donald Burke Freeman in 1944. They had three children: Jim, Susan (Webster), and Stephen. Donald Freeman was the Wing Commander of 403 Squadron, and died when his plane crashed in Nov. 1953. Dorothy then dedicated herself to raising their three children. She received her strength from within, from her Church — St. Mark & St. Philips, her family and friends. As her children grew up she enjoyed more freedom to cross-country ski, hike and golf with the Second Sixties club. She was a prolific reader, and supporter of human rights and environmental issues. At 86 years, she moved to Garrison Woods in her old neighbourhood. After a brief illness, Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep. She is survived by her children: Jim (Marilyn), Susan (Bob) and Stephen (Guille), her grandchildren: Andrea, Jamie (Jason), Jason (Angie), Shawn, Karen, Gordon (Julie), Benjamin and Jason, her great- grandchildren: Elias, Andreas, Joel, Sydney, Amber, Sarah, Leo, Robin and Jack. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Gordon.
