Joan Freckleton beloved wife of Ron Freckleton of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday April 20, 2014 at the age of 78 years with her loving husband Ron holding her hand.
Joan and Ron married in their home town of Liverpool UK in 1956. In 1963 they began a travelling adventure together that took them to Stratford upon Avon, South Wales and the Highlands of Scotland, before immigrating to Calgary in 1973
Winter Holidays in Hawaii and summers in beautiful Canmore were the highlights of their lives and many more good times were spent in Calgary with family and friends. Joan had a special love for all of her friends at Acadia Pool
Ron wishes to thank the wonderful people of the Emergency Dept., and Unit 94 at Rockyview and the staff of Park Place at the Chinook Care Centre for the care, love and respect that they gave, unconditionally to Joan.
Special thanks to Dr Don Stinton for his care of Joan especially through the later years of her life when Joan underwent a number of serious setbacks to her health.
Private family celebrations of Joan’s life will be held in the UK and in Calgary.
Friends will remember Joan for her sense of fun, her impish grin and her infectious smile.
Joan is survived by her husband Ron of Calgary, sisters Maureen Byrne, Kathleen and her husband Chris Sumner, and Carol and her husband Joe Lawler; brothers Jim and his wife Elaine Sandison and David and his wife Chris Sandison and Sister-in-law Kitty Sandison; all of the Merseyside UK, and her large extended family in the UK, Canada, and United States.
Joan was predeceased by her parents Jim and Kate Sandison; and brother George Sandison.
