FORDYCE, H. David

February 3, 1942 – March 24, 2014

H. David Fordyce died suddenly surrounded by his family March 24, 2014 at Foothills Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-eight years Marlene, son Scott (Laree) Rachel and Katelyn, daughter Erin (Dennis) Sara and Alex Molly, son James (Tiffany) Andrew, Madeleine, sister Muriel Fordyce, sister Penny (Bruce) Anderson, brother Terry(Cindy) Fordyce, half-sister Geraldine Fordyce and numerous nieces and nephews. David grew up in Winnipeg where he spent many summers at Grandma’s farm. This is where his love for agriculture was formed. Most of his early time was spent with his family as they did everything together. After David and Marlene married in 1966 they moved to Calgary. In 1977 they moved to Okotoks to raise their family and to build his dream home. David was produce manager at Okotoks Sobeys for twenty-five years. He was a wonderful woodworker, gardener, fisherman, husband, father and grandfather.

  6. Don and Rae Gilbert :

We are thinking of Marlene, and all Dave’s family during this time. Dave was a wonderful employee, very dedicated to his job and his family. He was good to the employees who worked under him and many of the part time boys will remember Dave taking them out for breakfast after cleaning the counter on a Sunday morning. If Dave had a sick day he needed an operation. Dave loved his family and would do anything for them. We will miss Dave’s smile and his happy outlook. We always enjoyed seeing Dave after his retirement when he would bring us up to date on his family.

    My condolences to everyone.

Whether he was a friend, a neighbour, a co worker, an acquaintance, someone you may have met even just once, an uncle, a grandfather, a father, and Marlene’s husband. Everyone should feel truly blessed to have met him or shared in his life. I was truly one of the lucky ones to be able call him my father in law. I know I speak for everyone when I say he will be missed and always remembered.
