September 29, 1936 – March 18, 2011
Jacqueline Anne Ford’s soul was released to heaven on March 18, 2011 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She lived life to the fullest and left nothing undone. Her family and friends will miss her physical presence yet her warm and generous spirit lives on in our memories.
Jackie was born in Edmonton, September 29, 1936, the second eldest daughter of Ethel and Jack Kerns’ six children. Married for 53 years to Lyle, she lovingly nurtured her family: daughter Janiline, husband Brad Hardstaff and children Kyle, Jared, and Kaylyn; daughter Lee-Anne, husband Gary Walker daughter Chalice and stepchildren Jacquie and Brian and their families; and son Dean, wife Felicia and daughter’s Anjali and Suri. Jackie is survived by her siblings Georgie Alexander of Fort Saskatchewan, Joan Kerns, Kathy (Bob) Martel of Edmonton, Gene (Patty) Kerns of Saskatoon, and Robin (Wayne) Depner of Springbank. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Ethel (Brumfit) and Jack Kerns.
Wife, mother, Nana, sister and friend, Jackie had a deep love for her family and those she developed an intimate relationship with. The three words she lived by were unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness and she exemplified all three. Her family cherish memories of celebrations and fun times spent together. She was an inspiration and a mentor to many and an incredible example to follow.
Many words describe Jackie: athletic, adventurous, energetic, leader, country girl, lover of nature, kind, loyal, true friend, supporter of the arts, ‘hostess with the mostess’, traveler, organizer and selfless volunteer. Her passions were her family, making new friends and connecting people. She was committed to serving her community through the Springbank United Church, Lioness Club, Heritage Club and the many other groups and activities she enjoyed with friends. She will be missed by many.
The family would like to extend gratitude to all of Jacqueline’s caregivers especially the nursing staff at the Chinook Hospice for their compassionate and dignified care and support.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Springbank United Church on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Springbank United Church or Ovarian Cancer Canada (www.ovariancanada.org). A reception will follow at the Springbank Heritage Club. The internment will be held at a later date with family.
