FOOTE, Cora (Corkie)

November 9, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Corkie Foote, beloved wife of Marv Foote, passed away in Calgary on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the age of 83 years.

In addition to Marv, she is dearly missed by son Brydon and girlfriend Catherine and his daughter Tamila of Calgary, and daughter Sheri and husband Lee of Denver; younger sisters Norma and husband Austin Youngberg of Kelowna, and Gloria Cott and partner Jim Bishop of Chemainus, BC; niece Laura Youngberg and partner Jon Deets and her daughters Alex and Annelise of Calgary, niece Jane Youngberg and husband David Miller and their sons Jules and Anton of Kelowna; niece Anna Cott and husband Marcin Koslicki and their son Eric of Edinburgh, Scotland, niece Erin Cott of Edmonton and a whole lot of family in Denmark. Corkie was predeceased by her older brother Lars Pedersen of Vancouver.

Corkie spent time curling, walking, playing golf, playing with her 5-year-old granddaughter, and trying to keep up with the numerous requests for her fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. She dedicated herself to numerous causes over the years. Those closest to her heart were the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (including volunteering with the Tom Baker Cancer Centre), Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Thank you to the staff on Unit 91 of the Foothills Hospital and all the staff at the Southwood Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to The Tom Baker Cancer Centre/Alberta Cancer Foundation (albertacancer.ca) of Calgary or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (cbcf.org).

    Our sincere condolences on the loss of such a sweet lady. I remember her fondly and especially her baking non-stop for baseball. Janet and I wish we could pay our respects but are currently in Denmark for the next 4 months. I hope the memorial is filled with wonderful memories and precious time with loved ones.   6. I was very saddened when I heard Mrs. Foote was battling and then passed on. There is no doubt where she is right now as she was a saint to put up with Brydon and I during our teenage years. I don’t know many who would have had the patience for us.

    My thoughts are with you Mr. Foote, Brydon and Sheri. I think a toast of Akvavit in her memory is in order!

    I am very sorry to hear of Mrs Footes’ passing. Believe it or not I remember her substitute teaching for my grade one class back in 1986. She was always my favorite substitute teacher and she will always be in my heart. My condolences.

  16. I was out of town last week and learned of this news just this morning. My thoughts are with Marv, Brydon and Sheri at this time. Mrs Foote (as she was my teacher at times as well) was an awesome woman who always had a smile and a pleasant word. I’ve known the family since 1974 and have the deepest respect for all of the family and wish for fond memories of a mother and wife who was the core of a great family.
