February 6, 1933 – Liebenthal, SK
April 16, 2014 – Calgary, AB
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Leon Folk on April 16, 2014 at the age of 81 years.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte; children, Donna (Greg), Karen, Larry and Scott; his grandchildren, Sandra (Tom), Danielle (Derrick) and Emma; four great grandchildren, Wren, Korben, Fynn and Hudson; and his brother, Val.
Leon was born in Liebenthal, SK, where his family farmed and were what he described as “dirt farmers”. He worked as a ranch hand in Alberta before moving to Calgary in the mid 1950s, where he met Charlotte. He spent his hardworking life in jobs that took him to Churchill Falls in Labrador, Trois Rivieres in Quebec and Inuvik in the Northwest Territories. The greatest joy in his life was his family, and he especially liked to tease and joke with the kids.
At his request, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
