FOFONOVE, Paul William

FOFONOVE, Paul William

January 23, 1969 – January 1, 2012

Paul Fofonove beloved husband of Tanya Fofonove of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the age of 42 years.

Paul grew up in Calgary, playing hockey with various teams and would spend hours on the community hockey rink trying to perfect his slap shot. He spent many weekends and summers in the Windermere Valley where his family had a cabin. He was a very good skier and loved to dirt bike, camp and fish. He met his future wife, Tanya, in their last year of high school, fell in love and moved in together after graduating. He attended a year at Mount Royal College then SAIT and earned a Telecommunications Engineering degree. He worked for a small trucking company for a couple of years, when he decided to become his own boss. He bought his first truck and secured a five year contract with Canada Post. Not satisfied, he bought a couple more trucks and eventually ended up with a small successful fleet working the freight industry in Calgary. The day each of his two children were born, were the most precious to him. He worked extremely hard to enable his wife to stay at home with them. He loved to coach his kids teams, in soccer and hockey and would be at every practice and game that he could.

Paul is survived by Tanya Fofonove, his wife of 17 years, son Connor and daughter Amanda; father and mother, Bill and Patricia Fofonove; sister Jill and family, Stuart, Gordie and Alex Mitchell, as well as extended family and many, many friends.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
Sympathy,Love and Light to You All

Lift Up Your Eyes …J.D. Freeman

…Though many climbers have called it many names, few have reached its top,
for the way calls for keeping on. Still, once you set out, you can never turn back for long-the mountain draws you to itself. Even in its shadow, even at its foot, you find such serenity and strength.

    Tanya,
Deepest sympathy to you and your family from Tracy and I in New Brunswick.
There are few people in life that a person can meet for only a short time and make you feel like you’ve known them your whole life! Paul was one of those people.
We only got to know you guys for a week while you were here for Mark’s wedding but the stories and hilarity will last a lifetime!
Wishing you all this best during this difficult time.

    Chris and Tracy Paquet
