FLORES, Ricardo Eligio

Ricardo “Ric” Flores Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, January, 17, 2015 at the age of 56.

He was born in Jaro, Iloilo, Philippines on June 28, 1958 to parents, the late Ricardo Flores Sr. and Teresita Eligio Flores. Ric graduated from Nueva Ecija High School in 1974 and received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Central Luzon Polytechnic College in 1979. He also had a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Manila, as well as a diploma in Computerized Payroll Accounting from the Academy of Learning in Calgary in 2009. He married Alma Dela Vega Flores in 1982 and was blessed with three children, Michelle, Sherwin and Valerie. They lived together in Metro Manila, Philippines, before immigrating to Calgary in 2005.

Ric worked for AG&P being assigned to work both locally and with multiple contracts to Kuwait from 1983-1989. He then worked for the Department of Transportation and Communications in the Philippines from 1989-2005. Ric was a facilitator at the Academy of Learning from June 8, 2009 until July 2014 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of his students and co-workers. Outside work, he was a member of the Community of Couples for Christ. He also enjoyed playing sports such as basketball, billiards, bowling and chess.

Ric is survived by his three children; Michelle, Sherwin and Valerie; mother Teresita; and siblings Esperanza and Rommel.

Ric was a loving son, husband, and father who took pride in providing for his family. He lived a respectable life and was well loved by his family and friends. He was a man whose integrity became the source of his family’s convictions. He was dignified and wise man, whose values he instilled in his children would always stand the test of time.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, January 22, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Prayers and Tributes will be at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Forward condolences through
