FLEURISMA, Carlo

September 18, 1983 – November 10, 2017

Carlo Fleurisma, aged 34, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2017. He was born in Haiti on September 18, 1983 to Bernadette Pierre. Carlo moved to Canada at age of 7 and grew up in Ottawa where he attended high school.

In the mid-2000s, Carlo moved to Calgary where he met the love of his life Amanda. Carlo had a smile that could light up any room, had an infectious laugh, and lived life to the fullest. Carlo was the type of person who left a mark on any person who crossed his path.

Carlo was the light and star of Amanda’s life and on August 5, 2017, they were Wed and made the promise of forever where he gained a large family who loved him very much. They spent their days laughing, spending time at their favourite pub “The Weaselhead”, watching hockey, and enjoying a shot with friends of Jameson.

Carlo dreamed of the day he would get to see his mother again as she was predeceased in his childhood.

He is survived by his ‘love’ and wife Amanda Fleurisma (smith). His aunt and cousin in Ottawa. Also, his best friends that he considered brothers Mike, Dave, and Frank. His mother and father in law Milan and Debbie Korosec. His brother and sister in laws Mitchell Smith, Nicole Smith, Anthony Korosec, and Terry Korosec. Additionally, Carlo was loved and survived by his numerous and wonderful friends in Calgary.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

  8. Carlo was a great man and a part of my family. We had been busy over the years but used to live together and even helped raise my children. When my daughter heard he passed she was upset and her friends asked what was wrong and she said her uncle had died. That’s how great of a person he was and what an impression he left on people’s lives.
He was a great man and will be missed. I am sorry for his family and the rest of us who loved and will miss him.

  11. The Felthams (Hunt Club, Ottawa) :

    Amanda,
Although we’ve not met, I believe that you must be a wonderful person as the Carlo we all knew was a wonderful person too. It stands to reason that his life partner would be as well… I have no words that can possibly make you feel better in this time of your life other than perhaps letting you know that Carlo was loved and cared for by many over distance and the across the passage of time. You were right in your note to me the other day. This is not supposed to happen. Too young and too soon. Please accept our deepest condolences Amanda. May the memories of your all to brief life with him carry you through the weeks and months ahead.
    Take Care

    Dear Carlo,
Although we weren’t your biological family, Helene and I thought of you as one of our children. You were an amazing boy who eventually became a wonderful young man despite the cards you were dealt with in your early years. We were truly blessed to have you in our lives. You’ve left us with wonderful memories. I know that like many others, the memory of your physical presence will always include that great big smile that would light up a room. From Helene, James, Ainsley and Erica and myself, with all of our love Carlo, rest in peace at you moms side. You’ll never be forgotten.
    Your friend forever,
    Peter
