FISHER, Mary Margaret “Marnie” (nee Peterson)

November 11, 1929 – November 21, 2012

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marnie at the age of 83.

Marnie was born in the Scottish Hospital Calgary, AB on November 11, 1929, only child of W.F. (Pete) and Annie Peterson (nee McCuaig). She attended Central High School (C.C.I.) and graduated in nursing from the University of Alberta Hospital, class of January 1953 and she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta in 1973. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a Master of Science degree in 1987. Marnie was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honours Society. Volunteering at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics was the highlight of her volunteering activities. Her interests included photography, travelling, planning and hosting parties, and animals.

Marnie is survived by her loving husband Barry of 51 years, and her adored children; Jennifer Fisher-Sundberg (Bryan) of Pincher Creek and John Fisher (Polly) of Lethbridge. She was the beloved Gram of
Adam and Megan Sundberg and Gabriel, Malcolm and Ethan Fisher.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through

    I am so pleased that you let me know that Marnie has passed into a higher realm. We were very good friends and enjoyed a lot of time together both before and after she married Barry Fisher. So much laughter and good times.
    I have missed her a great deal over the years and wish her later years had been kind to her. If there is a life hereafter she will be a great citizen of that realm. I can only hope to have a chance to join her. She was, is, a wonderful person.
