FISHER, Elfriede Helena

July 9, 1938 – Herbert, Saskatchewan
September 9, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Elfriede Fisher, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away on September 9, 2017 at the age of 79 years.

Elfie was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan to Maria (Steinhauer) and Martin Wilms. Upon completing training at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital, and later in Milwaukee, Elfie served as a missionary in India. Back in Canada, she was employed as a head nurse of labor and delivery at the Foothills Hospital. Elfriede married her true love, Victor Fisher on January 8, 1972 and the two of them enjoyed many happy years together and were blessed with a healthy family. Elfie’s life was guided by her faith in God. Hospitable and caring, she loved people and took a great interest in them. She had many friends of different cultures and religions.

Elfie is survived by her sister Klara Unger. She is also survived by her 3 children and 5 grandchildren; Tamara (James) Avery and their children Nathan, Kira and Jaida, Jonathan (Jennifer Francis) and their child Oscar, and Timothy (Edith Pineault) and their child Hans.

Elfie was predeceased by her husband Victor Fisher.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North), on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desired, a gift in her honor may be made to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank http://foodgrainsbank.ca or to the Malabar Mission Society www.malabarmissionsociety.org.
