Fisher, Barry Hugh

Barry Hugh Fisher, long-time partner of Murray Garnett of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the age of 46 years. Barry loved life. His great sense of humour made him the consummate practical joker and prankster. He had a passion for gardening, fishing, cooking, organizing family get-togethers and dinner with friends. And his favourite holiday? Of course, Halloween. Barry had the biggest heart although he could also be crusty at times. He was there for everyone – whether they wanted it or not. Barry is survived by his parents Bud and Thelma (nee Desnomie) Fisher; siblings, Randy (Mary-Ann) Fisher, Debbie Fisher and Laurie (Dale) Schwab; in-laws Ann Garnett, Richard Garnett, Coleen (Lorne) Kelndorfer, and Michael Garnett as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his little “boy” Eddie and little “girl” Sierra; and numerous friends who were his family as well. Barry was predeceased by his brother Gordon Fisher in 1998. A Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to The Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of Canada, 3100, 246 Stewart Green S.W., Calgary AB T3H 3C8 Telephone: (1-888) 884-2232, the Canadian Diabetes Association, #204, 2323 – 32nd Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3 Telephone: (403) 266-0620, ext. 112, www.diabetes.ca, or directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca.  In living memory of Barry Fisher, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
