FILIPPETTO, Vittoria Maria

May 16, 1941 – Italy
July 12, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vittoria Maria Filippetto, beloved wife of Battista Filippetto with whom she shared 57 years. Vittoria passed away peacefully on July 12, 2017 at the age of 76.

Vittoria was born in Montorio nei Frentani, Campobasso, Italy on May 16, 1941. In 1955, she moved to Calgary with her family and then worked at the Holy Cross Hospital for many years. During that time, Vittoria met Battista Filippetto, and they married on June 4, 1960.

Along with her husband, Battista, Vittoria is lovingly remembered by her brother-in-law, Roberto Filippetto and his wife, Ilia, along with their two children Anna and Dino, his wife, Dania, and their children, Matteo and Dontae, who were the light of her life. In Italy, she is affectionately remembered by many family and friends, especially her brother-in-law, Ricardo Filippetto, and his wife, Antonia, and their children, Massimo, Sonia, and Laura and their families. Vittoria is also fondly remembered by Rino and Licia Filipetto and their children, Gina and Marco, and their families as well as Carmela Filippetto and her children, Lucio, Antonietta, Giulio, and Elisa, and their families. She is predeceased by her parents and Ferdinando Filippetto. She will also be greatly missed by her many godchildren and caring friends. Our Zia Maria loved sharing her cooking and baking. She will be cherished for her gentle and welcoming nature.

Family and friends are invited to Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church for prayers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., also at Canadian Martyrs Parish (835 Northmount Drive N.W.). The graveside service will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery Mausoleum (3219 4 St. N.W.). Following the graveside service, all are invited to join the family for fellowship and refreshments in the Brebeuf Room at Canadian Martyrs Church.
