FFOULKES-JONES, Maureen Nansie (nee Morris )

January 1, 1946 – June18, 2012

Maureen Ffoulkes-Jones (formerly Webb), beloved wife of Peter of Calgary, passed away peacefully at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary surrounded by her family on Monday, June 18, 2012 at the age of 66 years.

She was the New Year’s baby born in Regina, Saskatchewan to Alfred and Kathleen Morris; who farmed in the Weyburn area of Saskatchewan. She was the eldest of four. Maureen worked in healthcare for over forty years, where she greatly contributed to the various positions she held and was strongly admired by her coworkers. However, her first passion was her family. Maureen was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a vivacious person who lived her life to its fullest. Her warm smile was infectious and her kindness touched many. Maureen considered every day as a gift to be cherished. She leaves behind many wonderful memories of her life spent in Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Calgary and Fanny Bay.

Maureen is survived by her loving husband Peter; her three children, Sheri (Jason) Baker, Jeff (Angelica) Webb and Ryan Webb (Lindsey); also five grandchildren and one great-grandson; her mother Kathleen Morris of Saskatoon; and her three siblings, Bill Morris, Judy Dickie (Dennis) and Bob Morris (Carole). Maureen was predeceased by her father Alfred Morris in 1986.

A Celebration of Maureen’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Maureen was a gem – unique and priceless. Definately a sparkplug just like Grannie Morris. Sheri, Jeff and Ryan you all have her wit, her twinkle and her smile. She was the best story teller and I hope you have the opportunity to share some of her “finest” moments. Love to you all from your old Aunti Sheila. We shall toast a glass of red wine in her honour on the 23rd. (Maureen will be saying more than one glass I hope)

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Maureen. I knew Maureen as an instructor when I was taking the MLS program at U of A and then as a colleague teaching in the NAIT Medical Lab Technology Program. Maureen was an excellent instructor, and always encouraging and supportive to students. She was vivacious, warm, and a pleasure to work with. She was deeply committed to the profession of Medical Lab Technology and made significant volunteer contributions. Although our paths have not crossed for a few years, she was a friend and I will miss her!

I knew her since the U of A in Edmonton 40 years ago where we worked as lab technologists and over the years our paths crossed many times.
