FECH – Shirley Margaret

May 12, 1968 – September 17,2009

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Shirley Fech must announce her sudden passing on Thursday, September 17, 2009.

Her greatest pleasure was her two children, and nothing made her happier then being with them. She was one of a kind, and was taken from her family too soon. Shirley had a positive outlook on life and wanted to have fun. She always had a kind word for everyone and a willingness to listen and help others. Shirley was working towards her Bachelors in human resources at Mount Royal University, and was very excited to be attending school again. Those who knew Shirley will miss her deeply.

She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Nicole Fech and Kimberly Dawn Fech; her mother Ruth Fech and father Oscar Fech, sisters Dorothy Fech and Linda (nee Fech) and her husband Marshall Lewington, niece Amanda and nephew Tyler Lewington. She will also be fondly missed by Paul Olsen.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Please forward any condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Shirley Fech, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403) 243-8200.

  2. I had the opportunity to spend time with Shirley at the Monday night HOPE group meetings. This is where we shared our obstacles and triumphs about being cancer survivors. She was dedicated, reliable and extremely supportive for all of us. She was always happy, filled the room with laughter and radiated with joy when she talked about her girls. I am sad that she had such a short life but I am blessed to have been a part of it. Love ya Shirley!!!
I extend my deepest sympathies to Shirley’s daughters, family and friends. She will be sadly missed.

  11. Dear Jessica and Kimberly,
I only came to know your mom these last 3 years, when we met every Monday at our Hope group. Most meetings she was quiet and introspective, but every once in awhile her passion about something would literally have her vibrating off her chair, and we’d all smile to see her so animated. I wish I had gotten to know her better. But I do know that she loved her girls, loved being a mom, and was very proud of both of you. She was a wonderful Hope sister and she will be deeply missed.

  16. Dear Jessica and Kim,

Over the last several years, I came to know your mom through HOPE cancer support group meetings. In the safety of the group setting, we shared joys and sadness, challenges and successes. No matter what, Shirley was always most lively when talking about her daughters. When we saw her last Monday, she was so proud that both of you were back at school this year, and that you were moving ahead with your lives in a very positive way. I know she will be watching over you always! My condolences to you, your grandparents, your aunts, and the rest of your family. May the memories and love you share with your mom bring you comfort. She will be missed by so many people whose lives she touched.

    Dear Kim and Jessica,
My thoughts continue to be with you this past week. I was going through old emails from your Mom today and I loved her sense of humor! I miss her energy that she put into everything. One of the best things about working at Home Depot was the day I met her. Her friendship and memory will be with me always, she was a very special lady.

    Take care,
    Heather

  20. Jessica and Kimberly,

Your mother had a wonderful gift. That gift allowed your mom to smile when others might not, it kept her positive when things were not perfect, it provided laughter and love for others that may have needed it along the way, and it provided her with the power to always help and to share. I will never forget your mother’s incredible spirit and her willingness to share her gift. Rarely do we have the opportunity to live in the light of such a beautiful spirit. As a friend to her at work she spoke often of you two, she loved you more than everything combined. Carry her gift with you always. We will all miss her so deeply.

    Dave

  21. Hello Jessica and Kimberly,

I just heard about the loss of your mother and wanted to send my condolences. You most likely do not remember me but I remember you girls and your mother from my childhood. Your father is my uncle. I am not in contact with him nor have I seen your mother in many many years.. but I have fond memories of her and wish I had gotten to know her better. I’m sure she’s given you girls many great memories to cherish as I remember her as a mother who would do anything for your happiness… she was a wonderful caring person with so much love to give.. I’m sorry to hear she was taken from you so soon in life.

    Take care of eachother

    ~ Nycole
