Condolence Messages

  1. Laura Kristiansen :

Dear Don, Christine, Leonard and families –

My sincere sympathy…Mrs Fawcett was one of the funniest ladies we will ever know. I am grateful that I got to know Ruby for, close to, my entire life and that Marisa was exposed to the great spirit Ruby had for the majority of her young life as well. We will miss the laughs, and the journeys from my mom’s back yard to hers (on the steps they built themselves so they didn’t have to go the long way around!).

    Love Laura and Marisa Kristiansen

  3. I wanted to express my sympathies to your family in Ruby’s passing. I have known Ruby since working with Dr.McKercher in 1981 and from continued working with her family doctor Dr. Pereles. I looked forward to my visits with Ruby she was upbeat and of course always made us laugh. She rarely came without homemade buttertarts.
Thanks for the fond memories Ruby a special person to me.

  4. Ruby and my late Mother, Irene Holt enjoyed a dear and close friendship, from the 1940’s to the new millenium.
I have fond memories of family visits to the Fawcetts in my youth. Cecil was a great jokester and a jolly host, and Ruby could match him quip for quip.

Ruby, my mother and myself enjoyed many games of Scrabble over the years. When my mother or I would question the legitimacy of one her words she would emphatically declare: “It’s in the Scottish Dictionary!”

I will remember Ruby fondly for her good humour, friendship and loyalty – and simply for the pleasure of her company on many occasions in the past decades. When she came to visit, she often brought delicious home-baked treats, such as rhubarb and apple tarts and pies.

We will miss your thoughtfulness, Ruby, and generosity of spirit!

In closing: Dear Ruby, I surely hope that there is a Scottish dictionary in Heaven!

    In loving tribute,

    Bruce Holt

  6. Barry & Yvonne Fawcett :

    Dear Len, Don & Family
We first met the Fawcett’s during the building of the Winston Heights Community Hall. I believe that was 1961 when we moved in down the street from your mom & dad. Your parents both were ‘pillars of the community’ and fun to know. We joked and kidded each other over the confusion in our names when we each would get phone calls intended for the other “Fawcetts”.
Our hearts were full of gratitude when our oldest son became diabetic….and dear Ruby would watch for him as he passed by your home on his way to and from Tuxedo school to make sure he was safe. The “special treats” your mom prepared for him at Halloween made him the envy of many friends.
Even after 20+ years, and moving to Lethbridge, Ruby would send knitted gloves, hats etc. for our grand kids. She felt sorry for Craig having so many kids (7)
Ours thoughts are with you all at this time, but especially with a good friend, Ruby. We will miss her.

  7. Peter and Terry Holt :

We are just home from the Stampede horse show so will not be at Ruby’s service but surely want to thank Ruby for being so kind to my mother Irene. As kids we always enjoyed visiting the Fawcetts, there was always a laugh a minute. I’m not surprised that the hospital staff thanked Ruby. Peter and Terry Holt, Hollyhock Farm, Morinville, Alberta.
