FAUBERT, John Charles

July 25, 1921 – Marengo, Saskatchewan
March 9, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Faubert on March 9, 2018 in Calgary, at the age of 96. He will be deeply missed by Rita his wife of 68 years, as well as his large, devoted family. John’s family meant the world to him.

John was born in Marengo Saskatchewan and when he was 18 years old he moved to Lacombe. Years later he met his beautiful bride and together they moved to Medicine Hat where John worked at the Co-op store. He was transferred to Calgary in 1950 and eventually ventured out on his own. In no time he owned his own store, a strip mall and various properties. In 1963 he moved his family to Stavely where he and his brother Marc owned and ran the hotel. In 1967 the family returned to Calgary and after a lengthy illness, John began a career as an Engraver. With a passion to help those in need he chose to become a Nursing Orderly. He worked at the Colonel Belcher Hospital until he retired in 1976. It was this last profession that John loved the most. After his retirement he committed 25 years to caring for others by volunteering in Pastoral Care at the Carewest Dr. Vernon Fanning Center. John also loved carving canes and crosses, engraving and traveling. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for over 65 years, and we thank Council #4965 for their support at this time. John spent the last 6 years of his life as a resident at Clifton Manor, and the family wish to thank all the staff for their wonderful care, love and dedication.

John is survived by his six loving children; Anne Marie (Ken) Dick, Theresa (John)Taks, Janice (Dave)Wood, Marcel (Patti) Faubert, Lorie (Greg) Pelech and Annette(Mike) Demsky; 17 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. He is survived by numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. John also held a special place in his heart for Kelley Lerner and David Morrison.

John was predeceased by his parents Fred and Bertha Faubert, siblings Edmee (Alymer), Marc (Laura), Frances (Frank), Bob, and Great Granddaughter Maeve.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church. A Private Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of John Faubert, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
