  3. Mike & Marie McDougall :

    To Family of Fr. Eling:
We will miss our friend greatly. We remember Fr. Eling for his smiles and good humour.
While serving St. Patrick’s Church, Calgary,we had many meals together. One particular meal, Fr.Eling insisted that he would bring his ‘catch’ of the day. Marie’s brother Milt, wife Jeanette and special needs nephew, Scotty, were visiting from Spokane area. Fr. Eling cooked up his freshly caught trout for us. Mike was late coming home from hospital visits, so Fr. Eling served Mike a covered dish; when lifting the lid, there was 4 fish heads with eyes staring up at him. We all had a good laugh over that fun time.
We shared many good times with our friend.
Mentally challenged people had a special place in Fr. Eling’s heart, so Scotty and he had an instant bond. We know that when we tell Scotty of Fr. Eling’s passing he will be very saddened and will continue to pray for him. (Scotty’s prayers are so sincere and powerful).
We love you dear Fr Eling. May you rest peacefully and pain free in the arms of our Lord.
    hugs, Mike & Marie

  5. Leoncio V. (Chito) Jaraiz :

Fr. Eling was a dear, and esteemed friend. Having known him since he arrived in Calgary plus having served Mass in Las Salle for Bishop de Wit, who ordained him, brought us closer together. He was generous with everyone, a true priest, whose humility was without fault. I was blessed to see him as a Pastoral Care minister the Sunday before the Lord called him prayed over him, saying goodbye as I was coming to the Philippines, from where I send you all my heartfelt condolence. We are united in prayer for the repose of his eternal soul and I thank the Almighty for the gift of having known Fr. Eling in this life. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him. Amen

  6. My deepest condolences. My journey back to Christ was in large part because of the connection and friendship I shared with Father E. We shared a passion for basketball and he guided me down a path of love and passion for Christ. I will miss his laughter, humour and a spirit that exceeded his small stature. He will always have a special place in my heart.
