It is with great sadness and shock that we announce the sudden death of Frederick George (Ted) Elliott on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.
Ted is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving wife Bev, to whom he was married for twenty-six years, and by his amazing children Kevin, Graham and Megan; by his siblings, Elizabeth (Chuck) Cook, Davis (Debbie) Elliott, Josie (Gordon) Woodman, and Nancy (Hilliard) MacBeth; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ted was born in Edmonton and earned his MD from the University of Alberta in 1975. He completed his urology residency at the UofA and was admitted to the FRCSC in 1981. He then completed a Fellowship in Urologic Oncology in Indianapolis in 1982. He has practised in Calgary ever since – first at the Foothills Medical Centre and subsequently at the Rockyview GeneralHospital. He was passionate about the practice of medicine and was admired and respected by colleagues and patients alike.
Ted absolutely adored Bev and their children. Time spent helping with homework; coaching, refereeing and watching countless hockey, soccer and ringette games; or just being with his family gave him great pleasure. He and Bev had begun to discover the joys of travelling together. They enjoyed live theatre and loved spending time hiking and being with nature. Ted enjoyed many sports – both as an active participant and as an avid fan (Go Flames Go!). His music tastes were eclectic but favoured classic rock. Time spent at LakeEdith in Jasper was especially meaningful for him.
A celebration of Ted’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
