ARSENAULT – Eileen Margaret (nee Cronin)

It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved Mother. Eileen passed away surrounded by her family, on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the age of 85 years.

Eileen was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; one of seven children born to Francis and Martina Cronin (nee Bennett). She was predeceased by her brothers Herb and Frank Cronin. Eileen will be lovingly remembered by her children; Bob, Charlotte Squires (Bill), Peggy Cole (Kelly), Sheila McAlpine (Bob), Billy, Nancy, Tim & Lisa Yano (Ross); her grandchildren Heather, Michael, Kristy, Sasha, Kenny, Lisa & Sophie, and her four great grandchildren; Hailey, Mikael, Liam & Madison. Eileen is also survived by her sisters Vera & Sheila, and her brothers Bern & Emmett. A special thank you to our “Bow View Angels”, who provided our mother with exceptional care in her final days. Mom will be remembered for her great sense of humour and unconditional love.

As you danced in the light with joy,
love lifted you. As you brushed against
this world so gently, you lifted us.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Daniel Stevenot presiding. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

Your memory will live on. You will be deeply missed by all who had the privelage to know you.

  3. I remember Eileen’s last visit to Ottawa. She was at my home for supper and the conversation consisted of a steady stream of jokes. She and Dad seemed to feed off of one another sharing the same sense of humour. The puns never stopped. I may though have had the last laugh as I had to leave the supper table to go to the hospital as my labour had started for my third child. Dad and Eileen didn’t believe me right away as they suspected I was trying to introduce my own joke. Jonathan, now 21, was born that evening. Both Dad and Eileen agreed that I had had the last laugh. Eileen en route home took the time to visit us in the hospital the next day, arriving with a lovely gift for the new baby.

Aside from her great sense of humour my sister and I will remember Eileen’s sweet and generous nature. I know Dad will miss his sister. He is thankful that he was able to spend time with her last summer. The photo of his family reunion sits on his dresser.

We send our condolences and prayers.
    Love
    Jane Cronin Mary Sarazin

  8. My beautiful and loving mother has left us in body, but not in memory and, not in spirit.
Our family will forever cherish the memory of your laughter, your grace, your modest pride, your girlish giggles, and the love and joy you gave in return for the simple love given to you.
Thank you dear Mom, for loving us, forgiving us, and accepting us without judgement.
Thank you for caring for us when you had trouble caring for yourself.
There is no truer love than that of a Mother’s loving accceptance, despite our faults or misgivings.
That has always been you, dear Mom.
I love you deeply and a part of you will always remain with me.
I hope that you are with the God you cherished, and that a welcoming love and warmth surrounds your being.
We had lots of laughs and fun Mom .
I’ll treasure you forever and never forget what a wonderful woman you were.
My heart aches with sorrow to think that I’ll never see your joyous smile again.
    I love you Mom.
Save a big hug and a place for me in your eternal world.
I’ll never spend one day without thinking of you..dear Mom.
    Your Nancy

  9. I never knew my grandmother that well, and have only met her a limited amount of times but when I did spend time with her she liked to joke and laugh, the best memories I have of her is sitting around listening to her jokes. She seemed like a very kind, loving woman. Though I didn’t know her that well she must have been an amazing woman to raise such a wonderful family, a family which I eventually became a part of.

Rest in peace Grandma, you will forever be within the minds, hearts and souls of your family.

  10. To my sweet Mother Eileen,

Together we’ve weathered many a storm, but your love kept us afloat
I was a privileged child Mother, blessed to call you my own
I hope I’ve made you proud Mother; I can only strive to be
A fraction of the woman, which you turned out to be
I will celebrate your life Mother, and the gifts you gave to me
They’ll live within my heart forever, and down our family tree
Oh I miss you so Mother, you’ll never be replaced
My every thought is filled with you, and missing your embrace
I know we’ll meet again Mother, and until that day
Please know that you are here with me, and never went away
You live within my heart Mother, and in my every breath
You’re present in my every thought, as if you haven’t left
You’re in the smell of lilacs, the blossoms on the tree
You’re in the souls of those you loved, and those still yet to be
Until we meet again Mother, please save a place for me
When we will be united, for all eternity…

    Mom,
Not a moment of the day goes by without thoughts of you. You were the pillar of my foundation, and were always there to pick me up after a fall. Your love was unconditional and constant. I was so blessed have you as a Mother. I love you & miss you my sweet Mother.
