It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, grandmother (BBBs) and great-grandmother.
Sophie will be greatly missed by her sister Kathy Ford; children: Tom (Kathy) Edmondson, Deb LaBrash (Garry Olsen), Heather Matsalla, Donna Edmondson (David Poppitt), Rob (Darcy) Edmondson; grandchildren: Cyrena, Paul, John, Paige, Mark, Mike, Kelly and Jamie; great-grandchildren: Elenie, Adara, Logan and Emma; and, many other loving family members and friends.
Sophie established a career as a Registered Nurse in 1947 and practiced her profession in many areas, including: running the hospital in Goodsoil, SK.; nursing in Hafford and Saskatoon, SK. In Calgary, she nursed at the Spy Hill Remand Center, Calgary General Hospital, Calgary Children’s Hospital and the Bethany Care Center.
Sophie was recently recognized by the Commissioner of the RCMP as “the second man” for her duties, assisting her husband in the RCMP, in the operations of a remote, single-officer detachment. Her memoirs have been published and can be viewed on the RCMP website at
